1. Name of the post: Assistant Engineer (Civil)
Total No. of post: 63 [UR: 45, SC: 4, STP: 7, STH: 2, EWS: 5, RFW*=20]
Pay: Rs. 30,000/- to Rs. 1,10,000/- PM (PB-4) with Grade Pay of Rs.12,700/- PM
Age: The candidates should not be less than 21 years of age and not more than 38 years of age as on 01/01/2021.
Age relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates i.e. upto 43 Years, 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates i.e. upto 41 Years and 10 years for PWD candidates i.e. upto 48 Years.
Resident-ship: The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam. As a domicile proof of the candidate, one of the documents viz. PRC/Voter ID card/Employment Registration need to be enclosed.
Educational Qualification:
B.E or equivalent degree regular Full Time course in Civil Engineering obtained from any institute approved by the AICTE and recognized by the Government.
Apart from English, the candidate should have adequate knowledge of at least 1(one) Official language of the State of Assam (i.e. Assamese/Bengali/Bodo) except candidates belonging to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council.
Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens as defined in Article 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India.
Domicile: The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam. For proof of permanent residence, the candidate or his/her parents must be a voter of Assam. The voter ID card of the candidate or his/her parents will be treated as proof of permanent residence.

Selection Process of Water Resources Department Recruitment 2021:
Screening/ Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of merit as per academic performance.
Methodology of recruitment: Due to the current pandemic situation, a contact-less process of selection purely based on academic performance from HSLC to Degree for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) and HSLC to Diploma for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil) will be followed.
Methodology :
1. Assistant Engineer
- HSLC or equivalent: 10%
- HSSLC or equivalent: 20%
- Degree in Civil Engineering: 70%
- In case of the candidates who have completed the degree in Civil Engineering through lateral entry after completing Diploma in Civil Engineering their 20% weightage shall be calculated on the basis of marks/percentage obtained in Diploma and not on the basis of marks obtained in HSSLC or equivalent, irrespective of whether they have passed HSSLC or equivalent examination or not.
- HSLC or equivalent: 20%
- Diploma in Civil Engineering: 80%
